As the Net0Manager project continues its work, consortium members are gathering insights from professional across Europe on how to assemble the most relevant training program for future Net-zero managers. A recent focus group conducted in Belgium has underscored the potential of micro-credentials to bridge skills gaps in carbon management and sustainability within Vocational Education and Training (VET) programs. The group, comprised of 11 among industry leaders and C-level professionals, identified micro-credentials as a flexible and efficient method for upskilling workers in green skills and promoting sustainability practices. The participants also emphasized that collaboration between industry and educators is crucial for ensuring the recognition and value of these credentials.
While, as hypothesised by the project consortium, challenges remain in standardisation, recognition, and integration, the focus group’s findings pave the way for further development of a framework that will allow for the effective integration of micro-credentials into the current VET system, ultimately supporting the Net0Manager project’s goals of equipping learners with the skills needed for a sustainable future.
