The Net0Manager project, dedicated to equipping Vocational Education and Training (VET) learners with essential skills in carbon reduction and sustainability, recently hosted a successful online focus group organised by the italian project coordinator (Training2000) aimed at exploring the integration of micro-credentials into sustainability training programs. This initiative, conducted as part of Work Package 4 (WP4) of the project, took place on April 23, 2025, via Google Teams.
The central goal of the focus group was to gather valuable insights on how micro-credentials, specifically in green skills like carbon management, energy efficiency, and environmental leadership, can be embedded into VET systems. The group discussed the potential benefits, challenges, and strategies for integrating these competencies into existing training frameworks to better align with the needs of industries focused on sustainability.
The focus group brought together eight different participants, each bringing a wealth of experience from education, policy, sustainability, and industry sectors. Notable contributors included Carlo Stefano Cavicchioli, an instructional designer and founder of AZULchain, who specializes in digital learning environments; Alessandra Pedone from INAPP, a policy advisor with expertise in lifelong learning systems and skills recognition; and Valerio Temperini from the Polytechnic University of Marche, an academic expert in green marketing and sustainability research.
Entrepreneurial perspectives were represented by Riccardo Battisti, Head of Labor Relations at CNA Marche, who highlighted the challenges faced by entrepreneurs in adapting to European policy frameworks. SUPSI, the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland, contributed expertise through Nadia Catenazzi and Lorenzo Sommaruga from the Department of Innovative Technologies.
The rich mix of participants provided a dynamic platform for exchanging ideas, ensuring that the development of micro-credentials in the Net0Manager project is aligned with both educational frameworks and industry needs. Their combined expertise in vocational training, policy development, sustainability, and entrepreneurial ecosystems ensures that the project’s future initiatives will foster innovative, inclusive, and sustainable approaches to skills development.
As the Net0Manager project progresses, the insights from this focus group will play a critical role in shaping the policy brief and strategies for effective micro-credential implementation across Europe. This collaborative effort underscores the importance of adapting education to meet the growing demand for green skills in the global workforce.
